Summer Camp Merit Badge UPDATE!

Posted on Apr 18 2018 - 9:24pm

Thanks to those who have listed your MB selections and alternate choices for Summer Camp already. We will begin the enrollment process in the next day or two, so those not yet listed better get a move on!

In addition, the Camp just released the 2018 updated MB chart (see attached) and there have been some changes, so take note.

Also, please refer to the Camp's guidelines for age, size and ability requirements -- Camp Royaneh is strict about Scouts meeting those guidelines to be registered for classes. Also be sure to list alternate backup choices in case any classes are unavailable.

Lastly, please note the costs associated with some of the MB classes, which the Camp is charging the Troop upfront when we enroll. So we will be collecting these fees from Parents once we complete the MB registration process in the next few weeks.

Thanks everyone!

Camporee Reminder

Posted on Apr 11 2018 - 9:33pm
Just a reminder that Camporee is coming up on the weekend April 20-22.  Right now attendance is VERY low.  I'd like to encourage all scouts to sign up for this event.  It is one of the few where we are visible to our whole district.  Please sign-up and  and support our troop and show your Scout Spirit.

We also need some parents to help out.  We are looking for a grub master for the Parents/Scout Masters, and we need some parent who will help run our Camporee Event.  We would also love to have a few more parents who are willing to stay over-night.

Meeting Room Change

Posted on Apr 11 2018 - 9:15pm

Meeting Room Change

When: Tuesday April 17th and Tuesday April 24th

Troop meetings will be held in the After-School Day Care room off the basketball court on April 17th and April 24th. The church school has productions both nights and our normal meeting room will be occupied. Parking will also be limited on those nights. Additional parking is available on Melvin Way. There is a gate leading to the church at 1552 Melvin Way so you don’t need to walk all the way around to access the church.

Important! Summer Camp Merit Badge Sign-ups

Posted on Apr 11 2018 - 9:14pm

No, July's not here yet, but the opening of registration is -- for your Scout's Merit Badge classes and activities at this year's Summer Camp!

Please refer to the attached Merit Badge Chart and work with your Scout to help choose his desired selections. He should choose courses appropriate for his age and abilities. The Chart includes guidelines, though there is some leeway regarding ages. If in doubt, talk with Summer Camp Leader Mr. Stewart or Mr. Gogosha. (new Scouts will be enrolled in the Baden-Powell "Trail to 1st Class" course unless otherwise recommended by the Scoutmaster.)
Next, please sign-up as follows:

  • Start by selecting 4 "favorite" choices.
  • Then select 2 or more "alternates" in case any of the favorites are unavailable.
  • Log-in to the Troop 235 website and click on the "Summer Camp" link in the right-hand column.
  • Click on the "Register" button and then simply type each MB choice, starting with most desired, in the "Notes" box on the right side.
  • Be sure to click the "Submit" button when finished.

Our Troop's registrations will be submitted to Camp Royaneh next week, so be sure to sign up before then for the best chances of getting their favorites!
